Memorial to John Casey Jackson

Reasons of Change

Peering across the way
Colors fading from life to hues of gray
Cause his life was hanging in the balance his way
Reasons unclear for a heart so dear.

With the night came darkness and silence
He could only hear
Pain and despair beyond the lightness of one’s busy day
Stop it; he must with a silent refrain.

The procession strolling by
Not a glimpse of the truth of his pain is known
Only well wishers and flowers
Grief now banished into the sane.

Reasons of change like the autumn leaves
Drift away on the breeze of human hypocrisy
Once where there was trust
Lies and only ashes to dust.

Do not despair—for he was brother!
Not a burden—Can you not see?
Love knows no other
Reasons of change.

In memory of John Casey Jackson
Dedicated to Lisa Jaskson Miller

P.S.
Lisa,
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about you and your recent experiences, and your request, that I write a poem about the changing seasons, etc.
Well, here is the results of the poem I wrote last night for you. I hope it fills your heart with enough love to purge the ignorance and hypocrisy of those, who do not know the power of love, the heart, and most importantly family.

Love,
Michael
